Best Friends, Really?

I happened to have an interesting conversation with someone today - about 'Best' Friends.

My point of view was - is there really such a thing as a 'best' friend? I strongly believe that we share a different aspect of ourselves with different friends of ours. So, if not everyone knows all aspects of you, how can you qualify someone as a 'best' friend?

Something to think about, right?

you know i believe there are "levels" of friends, from acquaintances through casual friends to good friends and, occasionally, somebody who might qualify as a "best" friend. it requires a mutual understanding and perhaps even a bit of dependence which models a marital relationship, and might actually be stronger in some instances. do many people have such friends? probably not, nor is it something everybody should aspire towards.

"Everyone has a "best friend" during each stage of life-only a precious few have the same one.”..not by me..but read it somewhere...

I think that each time ,association and chance dictate era of every friend....He is the best companion of that particular time...that's all....During that period u can share everything with that person and even may be even sometime later...Life goes with so much change that every person has to be certified after every 6 months :)
